The Bee is today, and it’s at my house again. Something must be wrong with me, or I forgot something huge. I was finished with the baking and cleaning WAY early…
Anyway. It’s June, right? I have a fire blazing in the stove, and it’s cloudy and cold outside. I’m wearing a turtleneck, a long jumper and my new socks that are ever so cute. Guess what I planned for dessert? Ice cream! We were supposed to be enjoying an early summer day with frozen sweetness (and Nutella), but instead we are shivering around the snappy fire with our blue fingers holding our plates of icy goodness.
I’ve started working again on my Halloween quilt. It’s “Vintage Trick Or Treat”, by Crabapple Hill. It’s embroidered and pieced. Very cute… I just ordered another Crabapple Hill pattern for a Halloween quilt, so better get crackin’ on this one. Oh, and I have another Halloween pattern for a quilt. I better not sleep from now on.
P.S. Nutella does NOT freeze well…Don’t try it!
Alrighty–I’ve been back for a week, and somehow we have slipped back to Winter, or something. It was thirty-four degrees this lovely Spring morning…Not that you will hear me really complain. The only weather that I can NOT stand, is when it is boiling, unremittingly hot! I’ll even take snow over heat. (As long as I have power).
Our garden is slowly getting back into shape, thanks to my hubby, and youngest son. I worked a bit, but I haven’t been out there for a month. Shhh…don’t tell anyone. I also haven’t really done any sewing in a month either. I did work on the Crayon Box Jacket like a whirling fiend. Then I went to babysit my perfect Grandchildren-just kidding-and while I was there, I managed to knit one square. Big fat halto to the momentum.
This week I have my quilt group here again, and the preparations have begun in earnest! The cleaning is happening, and I made one of my desserts today. Ice Cream! Perfect! By the way, did you know that Nutella will not stick to frozen ice cream? My dessert will not be perfect. I tried to pipe decorativeness onto my ice cream, but alas… It was thirty four degrees this morning, and we’ve had popping fires all weekend… I hope my friends wear turtlenecks.
Pictures and more fun to come!
Four times a year I am the hostess for my quilt group, or as we like to call our get-togethers, Bee!
Today I’m having Bee here. I’ve spent a bit of time cleaning, and baking in anticipation…
We are having Lemon Bars, and Strawberry Shortcake. There will also be a berry salad, and cheese. There of course will be coffee and tea and raspberry lemonade. It can’t be dessert without . We talk a lot, during the sewing, and during the dessert and during our greetings and our leavings. We catch up on our absent members, and ask about our spouses. We are our best friends.
We sew, and knit, and share our new projects. Some are in progress, and some are finished. The finished ones are very appreciated. My Wednesdays are all very appreciated, because it’s Bee!
I dyed my eggs, but decided not to try to paint them. I am not an artist in reality, but in my mind I think I should be able to paint and draw. I also just used my eggs to make devilled eggs, and no one is going to appreciate them but me. I made Hot Cross Buns and Strawberry shortcake. I just love the smell of yeast breads when they are baking, and these have a lot of spices in them and the house smelled heavenly. For dessert tonight, I need cake! I cheated and used a boxed cake, but I still have to make scalloped potatoes, and there are only so many hours in a day. Right?
Oh yeah, we’re also having leg of lamb and asparagus…
Tomorrow we will be going to visit family for Brunch, and by the time we get home I won’t have time to cook. So…I cooked today so that we can have our own Easter dinner tomorrow.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter with family, and lots of eggs. Chocolate of course!
